Labor Day - Charleston, South Carolina August 31 - September 3

On Sunday, we went over to Patriot's Point. There we saw the Yorktown, a Coast Guard cutter, and a sub. We wanted to go out and see Fort Sumter, but the weather was too bad, and we had to be back in time for our dinner reservation.

Here are the pictures from Patriot's Point.

This is the view of the Yorktown from our Water Taxi as it left Charleston.
We saw many dolphins as we crossed the Cooper River. Here you can only see the tail fin, it had jumped up rather high.
Chris as we get off the Water Taxi at the dock on Patriot's Point. Notice he has our big umbrella in his left hand, we will need it later!
This is a view of the Yorktown as seen from the Visitor's Center/Gift Shop.
This is the Coast Guard Cutter that has been docked behind the Yorktown.
This is the submarine that is docked between the Yorktown and the land.
The Yorktown has a majestic view of the Cooper River Bridges.

This exhibit shows the evolution of the Congressional Medal of Honor.
This is one of the signs posted in the Torpedo Room.
This plane is just below the flightdeck. This is how the plane looks with its wings folded in.
This is the Radio Room. Kristina's dad was a Radioman in the Navy.
These are all photos of the planes that were outside on the flightdeck.
Behind Kristina, you can see that there is rain on the nearby Cooper Bridges, and it's heading our way.
People trying to see as many planes as possible before the rain comes in.
This is a majestic, yet eerie, view of the Bridge. This is where we took solstice during the rain.
We found a spot under the flightdeck to keep dry. This is actually the rain lifting. There was a period of time that you could not see beyond the dock. It was literally pouring for about 45 mins to an hour. Lots of lightning.
Chris relaxing on the Yorktown. Kristina rested too, the Yorktown was a lot of walking and stair climbing.
A view of the Bridges as the rain continues to let up.
Well, all of that rain seemed to have collected at the Market back in Charleston.
This was the shallow part of the market. Shallow enough for cars to get through.
The van would've made it through this part obviously.
This was the worst part of the flooding. It was about knee deep.
This is our special dinner that we had at the Four-Star Charleston Grill that is located in the Hotel. It was absolutely wonderful.

Well that was our wonderful and memorable trip to Charleston. We hope you have enjoyed seeing the pictures.
